East Grinstead Target Shooting Club was well represented at the NSRA National Meeting at Bisley this year, with 6 club members attending.

Jim Howard shot the weekend aggregate, finishing a creditable 45th out of 82 entries in Class B. Tim Green was 51st in the same competition, improving to finish 27th at the end of the Championship week aggregate.

New to Bisley this year, Trevor Wilde and Chris Phillips qualified first and third respectively in Class C of the Eley Postal competition. Chris shot superbly in the final, winning the class outright, with Trevor close behind in 6th.

X Class represents the top 100 national-level shooters in the UK. Andy Meyers hit peak form at the weekend, winning 5 out of the 6 competitions in X Class, coming in 2nd just a single point down in the remaining competition. He won the GPO Rifle Club Trophy for the weekend aggregate, beating all comers including shooters recently back from the Commonwealth Games!

Malcolm Brain was the leading club member through the Championship week aggregate, finishing 15th in X Class. This qualified Malcolm for a place in the England Team in the Home Countries International Match, the second time this summer he has qualified for the team. England went on to win the match comfortably, with Malcolm achieving the 7th highest score.

Together, Malcolm and Andy won the weekend Club Pairs competition. The final event of the week was the British Long Range Championship. Andy missed a place in the final by one point ex 400, with Malcolm only one point further back.

All of the above shows that not only does this highly regarded club cater for novices and first-timers, but also for rifle shooters who wish to improve their abilities and compete on the national and international stages!
