Bisley 2025:
The National Meeting at Bisley has now finished and I am very pleased to be able to report a significant number of successes by East Grinstead shooters.
First out of the blocks were Malcolm Brain and Sara Marshall who each won one of the benchrest competitions, with Malcolm also winning the aggregate just in front of Sara in third place. Sara also managed a 5th place in her class in the NSRA/Eley final on the Sunday, alongside Tim Green and Jim Howard who finished 7th & 8th respectively.
The main benchrest aggregate during the week is made up from 4 competitions. Sara had one win, two seconds and a third, contributing to 2nd place overall. Malcolm took 2 seconds and 2 thirds to finish one place behind in 3rd.
Not content with that, Malcolm also competed in a Scottish Match (3x100 yds) and an English Match (3x50m) finishing 2nd & 3rd which was just enough to give him first place in the aggregate by one 'X'.
Meanwhile, in the prone competition, Grant & Marie Featherstone were also collecting silverware. Grant won the Sevenoaks Cup in the centenary competition while Marie won the Gerard Finch Dawson Memorial Challenge Bowl. Marie had two other first places, a second & SEVEN 3rd places, while Grant notched up another 2 second places (one of which was a tied score which he lost on countback).
Shooting together in the club pairs, they won one of the competitions and came third in the other and if that wasn't enough, they both qualified for the 'Bobs' final, with Grant finishing 2nd in class and 10th overall.
Linda Smallbone collected the Queen Alexandra Cup on behalf of the Sussex team which included both her and David White. Linda was also part of the winning team in the Goodwill Randle match against the USA.
Although not placed in the top three, LInda and David were also members of the Sussex County team that competed in the County Sextette competition.
Junior International:
Finally, moving on to air pistol and the Junior International that took place in the week before Bisley. Zac Webber continued his recent run of success, bringing home 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal
Very well done to all of you. (The rest of us, we've got a bit of catching up to do!)
(Thanks to Jim Howard for pulling all the text together so all I had to do was cut and paste it!)
