EGTSC A Team won Div 2 over the winter season and were invited to compete against all the other division winners. On Saturday 24 April, the A team (Tim Green, Malcolm Brain, Charlie Bird, Dave Britchford and Sarah Collyer) went to Finals Day at the Surbiton Range. They also took with them the trophy (the Corporation of London cup) won last year by Eastbourne, who had left it with us at our open shoot the previous weekend.

Tim, Malcolm, Charlie and Dave shot on the 11.30 detail, with the city officials asking where our 5th member was. Sarah duly arrived, ready to shoot just as the detail had finished. There was a general opinion from the four that had just shot that there was little pressure on Sarah as they reckoned they had all shot rubbish cards!

When the scores went up it was apparent the shooting hadn't been quite as bad as feared and Sarah had to drop no more than 6 on her two cards, for us to be in with a chance. After a bad start, 4 dropped on her first card, she rallied and dropped only 1 point on her second. This turned out to be enough to give us the winning score, based on macrae handicap. Therefore the team brought the trophy straight back with them!

Tim Green and Dave Britchford were also in the Individual final, shot concurrently with the team final. Having scored 197 Dave was in a tie for first place, but unfortunately was scored out on a re-gauge and had to be satisfied with second place.

Scores were Tim 97, 99; Sarah 96, 99; Malcolm 96, 97; Charlie 94, 96; and Dave 99, 98. Everybody achieved their average, which is a very good result.
