Variable Weather, Excellent Cake!

English Match started Saturday morning with plenty of space for late entries to come and shoot. Kitchen stocked with rolls, bacon, and homemade Stem Ginger Cake. Most recipes say 2 teaspoons (tsp) full of ground ginger but the one Elaine found required 2 tablespoons (tbs) full which had us worried for a bit because we thought it might be a typo! However, further research (Hairy Bikers & Mary Berry!) confirmed it was OK. Anyway, we like ginger!

It must have been OK as we sold out on Saturday and made  another for Sunday!

Prizes ready for the winners.

The weather for Saturday could best be described a variable. Although the wind had it's moments, there were some calm(er) spells as well if you had the courage to wait. R Brown (Uckfield HGRC) set the pace in Class A with an excellent 590/600. R French (Chichester RPC) kept him honest with a 585/600. Class B saw S Farrant (Uckfield HGRC) take the lead with 580/600 and Class C was headed up by N Morkot (EGTSC) with 564/600. Class D were all keeping their powder dry for Sunday ...

Bacon ready and waiting!

Day #2

Day #2 underway. Gingerbread #2 cut up ready. Windier than yesterday but gives them an excuse!!

Stem Ginger Cake #2

Sunday saw N Pike (Chichester RPC) come close with a score of 586/600 in Class A. Closely followed by C Gough with 585/600 who missed third place on countback to R French. Class B couldn't make an impact on those that shot on Saturday, leaving S Farrant on top and S Thompson-Balk (Horsham RC) in second place with 577/600.

Class C saw J Wood (Bury St Edmunds) take first place with 564/600 on countback from N Morkot (EGTSC). Third place was also separated on countback with K Ballard 555/600 just beating J Howard (EGTSC).

Class D was won by H Taylor on 518/600 which was enough to take first place in both the Junior and ladies handicap competitions!

Full house on the first detail.

The Open Pairs competition was won by R Brown and S Farrant (Chichester RPC) with a score of 1,170/1,200. The C&D Pairs being won by J Wood (Bury St Edmunds) and J Howard (EGTSC) with 1,119/1200.
