Renewal of the club lighting is now almost complete but it does mean we have a load of 2nd hand flourescent tubes in 2ft, 4ft, 5ft, 6ft and 8ft variants.
Anybody interested? Give me a shout.

A new requirement of our buildings insurance is to have the electrical installation certified. After the committee obtained quotes, the electricians have been in and completed the work. This included some significant work including a new circuit breaker distribution board, a few more power sockets to reduce our reliance on flying leads, and a switch in place of the snooker meter.
There were two 'trip outs' picked up by the new system when it was energised. The circuit for the bank of 4x8ft lights (now 8x4ft) failed. After an investigation by the electricians the new units are fine. It turned out to be a supply cable in the roof having been nibbled by squirrels! This was promptly replaced. The second failure was the warmer drawer element in the cooker. As we have never used this facility to my knowledge we can probably get by without too much trouble for a while yet. Nobby has disconnected the warmer drawer so we can continue to use the cooker.
There are a few minor items to sort out. Also we need to complete the light replacement with LED units. Following further work this evening the butts are now all LED.
Many thanks to the following:
Nobby for his guidance, assistance and foresight on this project that has saved us a tidy sum.
Graham R for the text forming the basis of this post, letting the electricians in, and continuing with the works on the ladies toilet.
Thanks also to Graham S who opened up the club on Wednesday.
On the basis I missed people off the work party post - anyone else who has assisted with this project.

Armoury is now 100% LED.
Firing point is now 100% LED.
Butts are 50/50. Thanks to David and Charles for cleaning them up before I started.
The Ladies toilet has seen the demolition team do their stuff.
The greenery has seen several people hacking it back.
So quite a useful work party.
Thanks everyone.

Malcolm Brain. Winter competition cards are appearing in your slot from now onwards. Most (but not all) will be done by the end of the month.

It's that time of year again and I need the trophies back so I can get them engraved ready for this year's dinner. I'll be in touch with last year's winners but could I have them back by October 10th. Many thanks.

Anybody lost a 3BA spanner? Just found it in the light unit I took down. It could have been there since 1965 when the clubhouse was built. So only long time members need apply.

Peter Watson. Perhaps we should get Tony Robinson and the Time Team in to look around some more.
