Despite the promised blustery weather shooting conditions remained good for the East Grinstead Target Shooting Club 50 metre open match at the weekend and the top shots were in good form.
Sussex small-bore champion Andy Meyers narrowly won A Class by one point with a score of 592 ex 600. A perfect score of 200 by Russell French of Chichester on his last card left him with a score of 591, just one point ahead of Malcolm Brain of East Grinstead who posted a score of 590. Malcolm Brain also won the Veterans Handicap competition and together with Andy Meyers won the Open Pairs for East Grinstead. Bill Newman of Carshalton won Class B and John Stephens of Handcross won Class C.
