We received an email from Brian Woodhall at NSRA saying that he'd acquired some items from the estate of one of our founder members, John Powell. Would we like them?
They consisted of:
- An engraved salver presented to his father commemorating Gwynne Powell's 30 years of service to the club as Chairman.
- A scan of some of the badges that John won at Bisley in 1958.
- A scan of an article in the Autumn 1958 edition of The Rifleman. This detailed the two world titles won by the british team of which John was a member.
- An original poster for the Moscow 1958 championships.
As noted in Brian's letter, 1958 was an exceptional year for John. Belated congratulations from those of us who follow in his footsteps.

Following receipt of this information our Armourer, Peter Watson, did a bit of research. We'd been left a rifle by John Powell and this has been looked after by Peter. The result of the research is that we believe that the rifle we have is the one that John used in these championships.
Now we have the rifle and the memoribelia that goes with it.
