The top three shooters were separated by only two points after an intense match undertaken by 37 competitors in interesting conditions. In the end, Tony Wells (Cuckfield) and Russell French (Chichester) were tied for top spot and were only seperated by one point on countback with Tony Wells coming out as the winner, continuing from his successful 2nd place in the April shoot earlier in the year.

Despite the promised blustery weather shooting conditions remained good for the East Grinstead Target Shooting Club 50 metre open match at the weekend and the top shots were in good form.
Malcolm Brain and Andy Meyers attended the National Meeting organised by the NSRA at Bisley from 10th – 18th August 2013 with considerable success for both shooters. Malcolm won the NSRA Eley Class A final by a clear 5 points and achieved joint top score in the X Class weekend aggregate (1,174/1,200) but unfortunately was placed second on count back! He achieved one first, one second & two third places in the constituent competitions.
For the first time in its history, East Grinstead played host to the Sussex County Open competition. The weather was a bit on the cold side but scores held up well with Russell French taking the Sutton Gold Cup with a score of 390 ex 400. Trevor Wilde took the Eastbourne NALGO Trophy with a score of 377. Full results are available on the Sussex County website.
For the first time in it's history the Eastbourne League Thwaites Competition was hosted by East Grinstead TSC. It's always good to have home advantage! The weather was reasonable although the morning saw variable light and wind making for some interesting shooting. Andy Meyers (East Grinstead TSC) shot a magnificent match by only dropping 5 points during the 60 shot match giving a score of 595. Various other shooters tried to better Andy's score but fell by the wayside.
East Grinstead's recent run of success in finals continues! Malcolm Brain won the Croydon Individual Final, picking up the Dyer Cup. Following a poor shoot at 50m dropping 8 points Malcolm recovered well dropping only 3 points at 100yds.
East Grinstead also collected the shield for the winners of the winter indoor 25yd Division 1.
Members from East Grinstead won several honours at the Eastbourne League Finals on Saturday. We retained the Russell Cup (team of three consisting of Andy Meyers, Jim Howard and Malcolm Brain). Graham Fell won the Caffyn Cup, Elaine Kettle won the Spicer Cup, Malcolm Brain was placed third in the Veterans. Samantha Kettle was joint first in the Cardwell Ladies Cup with Linda Smallbone of Eastbourne RC after three shoot offs! A tremendous effort when up against someone of Linda's talent. Andy Meyers also took second in the Spain & Albury Cup.
